Being a grandmother is the greatest opportunity in the world to me.
I have four grandsons and one granddaughter and they all are my joy.
Two of my older grandsons are men now. I didn’t have a chance to spend a lot of time with due to them growing up in North Carolina. Nevertheless, I do get to spend with them when I visit them about every other year.
Now, the three smaller children, I do not get to see them much at all because they live in West Virginia. I have been around those grandchildren more often because the oldest grandson, of that group, was born in my hometown of Buffalo, NY.
The other two grandchildren are three-years-old and one-year-old but, my Ace, which is what I call him is an eight-year-old!
He Is incredibly special to me. He and I had a chance to bond. He calls me on the phone just about everyday and just to hear him say, “Nana” makes me melt.
My three-year-old grandson is special also to me. He likes to talk to his Nana on video chat and tell me what his brother or his sister has done to him.
My only granddaughter is his sister. She is saying words but not really talking yet. But she also loves to call me and say, “Hi,” and other baby-talk.
It is such a joy for me to be a part of their lives.
I guess I have my sons to thank. The only downside to having wonderful grandchildren is the fact that I do not get to see them enough. But the love I have for them outweighs everything.
I wish I had more grands.
